Iran to Give Crushing Response to ISIL"The country’s Armed Forces, Including the IRGC, will certainly give a rigid response to the Daesh Takfiri terrorists and their regional allies," Brigadier General Pakpour said.

The senior commander reiterated that the kind of response is up to Iran and Iran's armed forces will determine its type, but the response will certainly take place.

"The IRGC Ground Forces have been engaged in battles with terrorists backed by the hegemonic powers and Al Saud in Southeastern, Western, Northwestern and Southwestern parts of Iran during recent years, but the country is currently in peace and enjoys acceptable security," Brigadier General Pakpour added.

He emphasized that the ISIL attacked Iraq and Syria in recent years with the support of the hegemonic powers and Saudi Arabia, adding, "If they (terrorists) had not been stopped, there would have been no sign of Damascus, Karbala, Najaf and Shiism."

The IRGC commander said Iran only had an advisory presence in Syria and Iraq at the request of their governments, stressing, "We did not enter these countries without permission like the Americans and others did."

In relevant remarks last week, Brigadier General Pakpour announced that the IRGC had dismantled a team of terrorists.

"A terrorist team which sought to enter the country with the purpose of conducting acts of sabotage and terror was dismantled by the IRGC’s Ground Force in a border area in the Iranian province of West Azarbaijan,” General Pakpour said.

He underlined that during the clashes the IRGC Ground Force managed to take timely action and killed two members of the terrorist team, and said, "Four terrorists were also injured and some ammunition and military equipment were also confiscated.

Iran has arrested dozens of terrorists since twin terrorist attacks in the Iranian capital, Tehran, which killed 17 people and injured over 50 others.

On June 7, gunmen mounted almost simultaneous assaults on Iran’s Parliament and the Mausoleum of the late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini. The ISIL terrorist group claimed responsibility for the assaults.
