Kuwaiti Emir Eager to Boost Ties with Iran

TEHRAN (defapress)- Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad, in a meeting with Iran's new ambassador to the Persian Gulf state, voiced his enthusiasm for developing bilateral relations with Tehran, underlining his country’s interest in promoting collaboration in various areas.

Kuwaiti Emir Eager to Boost Ties with IranIn a meeting with the new ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Irani, Al-Sabah welcomed the Iranian ambassador, saying, “We consider Iran as our neighbor in the region and we are interested in developing and expanding our beneficial cooperation with Tehran.”

Mohammad Irani submitted his letter of credentials to Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad during an official ceremony at Al-Bayan Palace.

He also conveyed Iranian President's greeting message to Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad and described the relations between the two countries as friendly and brotherly.

Mohammad Irani further noted that the stability and security of the region is of paramount importance to the Islamic Republic of Iran and it is impossible to achieve this without the cooperation of the countries of the region.

In a related front in January 2017, Iranian and Kuwaiti Foreign Ministers Mohammad Javad Zarif and Sheikh Sabah al-Khalid al-Sabah held a meeting in Tehran to discuss bilateral ties and the latest developments in the region.

During the meeting, Zarif described expansion of ties with the neighboring states as an important priority in Iran's foreign policy, and lauded Kuwait as an important and good neighbor.

He also praised Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his role in strengthening good neighborliness among the regional countries.
